Browsers on Windows 11

How each browser is handled.

A browser integration is added for each supported browser. Each one applies your policy inside that browser and reports protection health back to the tray app and your GuardianBlock dashboard. Private browsing is the part that differs, so here is what happens in each.

  • Chrome

    Guest mode is turned off. Incognito is turned off when you use a standard Windows account.

  • Edge

    InPrivate is turned off when you use a standard Windows account, because Edge cannot run the GuardianBlock extension in InPrivate.

  • Firefox

    GuardianBlock applies your policy in normal and private windows.

Where each browser stands.

Chrome, Edge, and Firefox have dedicated integrations. On the protected Windows account, unapproved browser software is blocked from running as an alternate route, and the blocked launch appears in protection health for your keyholder.

Brave

Brave is not a supported integration. GuardianBlock blocks it from running as an alternate route on the protected Windows account.

Other and portable browsers

Other and portable browsers are not supported integrations. GuardianBlock blocks unapproved browser software from running as an alternate route on the protected Windows account.

Supported means GuardianBlock applies your policy in that browser and reports its protection health there. It is not a claim that the three behave identically: private browsing differs in each one, which is why this page states them separately.
